  • Overview

    The Red River Sales Academy is an accelerated development program designed for recent college graduates looking to enter a career in IT Sales. This program is focused on developing sales professionals for a transformative technology company.  The curriculum includes an intensive training schedule where participants will develop sales, customer service, and consulting skills to meet the demands of our growing customer base.  Participants will be assigned a dedicated mentor that will assist throughout the program and in the planning of a custom sales career path.


    Red River Sales Academy participants will start their training curriculum in our Claremont, NH headquarters. This first stage of training will focus on Red River’s business systems, the inside sales function, customer service, phone skills, compliance, and an introduction to our vendor and partner community. Once complete, qualified individuals will have an opportunity to apply for the second stage of training focused on the outside sales position; this second stage of training will be conducted at one of our regional offices. 


    • Strong phone skills, emphasizing listening skills, learning the closed/open ended question technique, courteous and conscientious mannerisms and technically literate language so as to support successful cold and warm calls.
    • Sufficient writing skills, demonstrated by the correct use of grammar, professional communication style and technically literate language so as to support successful e-mail introductions to customers, vendors and OEM counterparts.
    • The ability to proactively engage in all available Sales Training forums and actively pursue internal and external opportunities with our Vendor partner community to gain experience in the industry.
    • Become an impactful member of their team responsible for a dedicated customer account list.
    • Trained in the application of Red River sales procedures and protocols such as how to read a RFQ, identify the end user and communicate with the corresponding account team and internal resources.
    • Trained how to properly leverage Red River resources such as, Support Services, Pre-Sales Engineering, Capture, Professional Services, Managed Services and Supply Chain.
    • Trained in the use of customer, vendor and OEM resources, such that communication is sufficient to support timely, competitive and accurate proposals.
    • The ability to effectively present Red River’s core capabilities via phone, e-mail and face to face.
    • The ability to work effectively with or without direct management supervision.
    • Consistently meet/exceed customer account needs; identify opportunities to enhance delivery of company service and support goals.
    • Work independently with a focused direction while adding value and contributing to overall team performance.
    • Demonstrate a desire to improve breadth and depth of sales skills with customer facing and documentation skills.


    • Ability to quote all opportunities and be the primary "POC" for a  customer.
    • Ability to work independently and to make informed decisions without direct supervision.
    • Ability to interpret information from various sources in order to make strategic decisions regarding product sourcing, product configurations and quote pricing.
    • Ability to recognize new opportunities within existing projects or customers and take steps to advance the opportunity so that it becomes part of pipeline.
    • Ability to coordinate and execute lead generation campaigns.
    • Ability to independently manage a complex opportunity from discovery to close.
    • Ability to deliver presentations to peers, supervisors and customers on Red River, as required.
    • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy under a heavy workload and dead-lines.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well on a team.
    • Speak to and deliver a solutions centric sales pitch.
    • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite and Dynamics CRM (RADAR).
    • Mastery of the skills required to become a Certified Inside Sales Professional (CISP®).

    Sales Academy graduates will be equipped with skills to ensure success in Red River’s competitive and fast paced market. Graduates will understand how to target key business drivers facing our clients today and how technology products and solutions help drive mission outcomes.
