Managed Services Technical Supervisor

Red River’s new Technical Supervisor will lead a team of Technical Service Engineers operating in our 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC).  This is an integral role with Red River and requires the willingness to get out of established comfort zones and grow with the company!

As the Managed Services Technical Supervisor (MSTS) you will have primary responsibility of streamlined processes, and providing exceptional technical personnel management. The infrastructure must be utilized to support our growing Enterprise and Public Sector customer base through effective hosting, remote monitoring, help desk, and demonstration solutions. 

As the new MSTS you must be a builder and implementer of best practices across Red River’s managed services environment and personnel management.


  • Provide technical guidance to local and remote staff, ensuring that routine tasks are successfully performed on schedule
  • Ensure help desk SLA’s are established, tracked, and met
  • Coordinate technical projects with staff and consultants.
  • Build business justifications for technical projects and measure ROI
  • Ensure technical projects are completed on time and on budget
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the team to adhere to published SLA in support of Red River’s customers.
  • Maintain uptime and security of Red River’s client infrastructure under Red River care
  • Provide mentoring, training, and education to team members
  • Ensure team maintains and grows industry certifications as required

Operations & Support

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies


  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports IT infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment


  • Associates or Bachelor degree, technical major in engineering or computer science
  • 3-5 years’ SR Systems Administration experience, 5-7 years overall IT engineer experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience supervising or team leader of engineer teams of (5) or more people in technical functions
  • Experience with systems project planning and executing
  • Certifications a plus, including: MSSA, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, etc.
  • Expertise with
    • Cisco Networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN)
    • Cisco Unified Communication Solutions (VOIP, VTC, Jabber, WebEx)
    • Security and firewall products (IDS, Audits, Log Analysis)
    • Backup products
    • Monitoring products
    • Network management, including site to site configurations
    • Storage (EMC VNX, NTAP Filers)
    • Virtualization (VMWare) VMware vSphere administration and maintenance (Certification a plus)
  • Ideal candidate has experience in business process improvement and a solid technical grasp of IT hardware and software applications

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Enterprise SAN and NAS with local and remote replication with EMC
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007, 2010 and Office 365
  • Business applications – Microsoft Dynamics NAV, SharePoint, etc.
  • Data center environmental aspects – power and cooling
  • Enterprise backup and recovery with Symantec NBU, VEAM, BUE
  • Citrix (xenapp, xenxerver)
  • SQL Server farms
  • Enterprise antivirus and patch management tools and strategies
  • ITIL certified with ITSM experience
