Overview

Red River is seeking an exceptional individual for this Sacramento, CA based position.

 

Red River is looking to hire a Security and Analytics Deployment Engineer of Splunk Technologies. The primary purpose of this job is to focus on Splunk architecture, installation, administration, and development, with a goal toward enhancing the Splunk infrastructure as it relates to application/machine data, troubleshooting, reporting, custom queries, dashboards, and security roles administration. In addition to log analytics, you will help administrate a variety of other platforms within the Red River Security services suite. This is a client facing role with a major focus on support of Red River Services and engagements. This position will serve as the team lead for the Red River Professional and Managed Services Teams. 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technology advisory and implementation solutions that extract and maximize business value from IT investments for Red River Services and our clients
  • Encompasses architecture, engineering, and provide third level support for operations services for the IT strategy, innovation, operations, and infrastructure required to deliver efficient and effective platforms fundamental to business success
  • Architect, design, support, and maintain Splunk infrastructure for highly available and disaster recovery configurations.
  • Administering Splunk and Splunk App for Enterprise Security (ES) log management.
  • Standardize Splunk agent deployment, configuration and maintenance across a variety of Windows, Linux and Mainframe log platforms.
  • Troubleshoot Splunk server and agent problems and issues
  • Assist internal users of Splunk in designing and maintaining production-quality dashboards.
  • Mentor users and other groups on their use of Splunk
  • Monitor the agent and server infrastructure for capacity planning and optimization
  • Design core systems performance and troubleshooting logs
  • Support Splunk on Linux and Windows-based platforms
  • Perform data mining and analysis, utilizing various queries and reporting methods
  • Solve complex Integration challenges and debug complex configuration issues
  • Technical writing/creation of formal documentation such as architecture diagrams, technical designs, and SOPs
  • Strong understanding of Splunk configuration files and architecture
  • Knowledge of advanced search and reporting commands
  • Demonstrated ability to create complex dashboards, forms, and visualizations
  • Understanding of System Log Files and other structured and non-structured data
  • Intermediate level understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Develop functional designs, prototypes, process designs, testing, training, and definition of support procedures
  • Provide technical support for the Red River Services and our clients
  • Assist consulting practice on Pursuits, RFP responses, and solution development and sustainment
  • Develop documentation for best practices for server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing
  • Review operations and business requirements for projects pertaining to Red River's server infrastructure with all project teams, management and client services groups for deployment and ongoing operations support

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in a large, diverse, server environment
  • 5+ years of prior government and/or commercial consulting experience
  • Splunk Architect or Splunk Administrator certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of application monitoring and event management.
  • Security+ Certification preferred
  • CISSP preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Server, Virtualization, SAN and backup technologies
  • Experienced with networking and network/system security 
  • Subject matter expert in server hardware and operating systems
  • Knowledge of project management methodology
  • Ability and discipline to work and succeed in a fast pace and organizationally complex environment, to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology, and to lead and manage small projects 
  • Demonstrated record in leading and instilling service disciplines and team work
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Ability to listen and collaborate with audiences ranging from IT administrators to executive level stakeholders to help deliver solutions
  • Self-motivated and self-educating, willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow Splunk community members
  • Well organized with a healthy sense of urgency, able to set; communicate; and meet aggressive deadlines with competing priorities
  • Experience with security and operational related use cases is desired
